If you have a legitimate haunting or claim of a haunting, calling us is your first step. TV and being famous should be the far front of your mind.--Regan Vacknitz

Photographic

Photographic evidence is images that appear on a photograph that was not present when the photograph was taken, or should not be there in the first place.  This can include: faces, light streaks, and apportions.  Photographic evidence is very controversial because of the ease of photographic altering.  Photographs can be altered using simple editing software that comes on most PC's.  Only the photographer that took the original photo will know the truth if the photo has been altered or not.

There are several ways to spot an altered photo.  One way is to examine the edges of the image in question in the photo.  Cheap editing programs have a black outline around edited parts of the photo.  Another more evasive way is to examine the pixels in the photo.  If a photo was edited and an image superimposed over an original image the pixels will be different because images taken with different cameras will almost always have a different pixel rate.

MATRIXING

Matrixing is a naturally occurring function of the brain used to make since of complex patterns.  i.e. seeing shapes in the clouds.  Matrixing is a common occurrence for people claiming to see images in windows or mirrors.  Often the window/mirror is scratched modern digital cameras have i.r. Indicator lights that determine how for away something is, if its moving, and now dark it is and adjusts the for focus and flash.  These scratches can refract and reflected the i.r. light or the flash and causing a distortion on the photo.  Matrixing occurs in fog and watter and pretty much anything that can create complex shapes in this way.  Identifying matrixing can be difficult, but there are a few tips to be aware of.  Look for other distortions besides just the object in question.  Is there more fog than just what is causing the image?  Also examine where you/the photographer took the photo.  Are there any scratches or anything that can cause distortions.  If you find any of these than you must dismiss the photo as evidence.

EXAMPLE

In this photo there is fog coming out of the tunnel.  This fog is caused by air inside the tunnel being cooler that the air outside.  This causes condensation or fog.  It is NOT caused by a ghostly figure making itself known.

Using matrixing you can see what some might think is a face but it is actually just fog .  The rest of the fog in the upper portion of the photo supports this theory.

Here you can see what might bee seen as a face but it is really just matrixing in the pattern of the rock face in the background of the picture.

Back

I have always been interested in the paranormal.  I have been touched by unseen hands and I have heard voices.  I have seen to much evidence to deny that there is something out there.  Is it the departed souls of our loved ones?  I doubt well ever truly know, but we are going to try anyway. -- Aaron Burgess, IMPS Founder
