Equipment

IMPS uses a wide variety of equipment to document possible paranormal activity.  Since there are no tools specifically designed for paranormal research we must modify tools from other fields to suit our needs i.e. EMF doctors to find EM fields that may be the result of an entity trying to manifest itself.  (See types of evidence for more info about EMF)  Every tool is important, but the most important tool that we have is our eyes and ears.  While documented evidence is terrific it is also very rare.  We can learn so much form the little things we hear and see and our personal experiences we have that are not captured on recording equipment.

IMPS EQUIPMENT

Infrared 0Lux Closed Circuit Camera

These are stationary cameras can see up 30 feet in complete darkness.  They do this by emitting their own light source from a cluster of IR LED lights inside of the camera casing.  IR light is invisible to the human eye, however the camera can see the light so the area within the viewing area becomes illuminated without creating visible light.

Night vision camcorder

Along with the closed circuit 0Lux cameras IMPS uses camcorders with night-vision.  Theses cameras allow us to document evidence while we are walking around instead of leaving them in a stationary position.  IMPS also enhances the night vision capabilities of the camcorders by using IR illuminates.  Like the 0Lux cameras the night vision function uses IR light to illuminate an area without using visible light.  Most of these cameras have few or weak lights illuminate a small area.  IR illuminates are external IR LED light clusters that increase the amount and intensity of the IR light increasing the area and range illuminated.

Eight Channel quad processor multiplexer

A multiplexer separates the information from all the incoming CC cameras and divides them on a monitor screen.  Each input is separated int channels this multiplexer can handle a maximum of eight channels or in plain terms eight cameras at a time.  This saves information space and allows us to be able to view multiple camera angle on the same monitor.   Using this multiplexer we can record video from up to eight cameras on one screen drastically saving data space.

EMF detector

EMF stands for electromagnetic field.  Anything that uses electricity, and some minerals, emit electromagnetic fields.  Paranormal activity tends to manifest around areas where EM fields are unusually high.  The theory is that entities use the energy in these fields to manifest themselves.  An EMF detector is a tool originally created for electrician's that detects these fields. (High EM fields can interfere with electronic components)  Paranormal investigators use these tools to find areas of potentially high activity.

EMF spirit communication:  In extremely rare cases a spirit can use an EMF device to communicate.  This works by an investigator asking a spirit to make the EMF light up (if it has a light) or make a noise (if the device has an audible alarm) in response to questions. Example once for yes twice for no.

Digital voice recorders are used during investigations to record sounds or voices.  These noises help to validate personal experiences and document EVPs
